SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Frederick Anton "Tony" Fleming of Athens, 
4Georgia, who passed away on January 10, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Tony Fleming was a graduate of Briarcliff High 
6School in Atlanta, Georgia and Georgia State University; he 
7served his country with the United States Army 82nd Airborne 
8Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Tony Fleming worked as a journalist and was 
10associated with Thomson Reuters for the past 9 years; he was an 
11award-winning sports editor at the Americus Times-Recorder; 
12and
  
 
  
13    WHEREAS, Tony Fleming enjoyed woodworking, being a 
14wordsmith, sports, and music; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Tony Fleming was preceded in death by his father, 
16William Torrance Fleming, Sr.; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Tony Fleming is survived by his wife, Faye Beck 
18Fleming; his mother, Frederica L. Fleming Newsome (John P.); 
19his brother, William T. "Buddy" Fleming, Jr.; his sisters, 
20Katherine F. Cullerton (Jeffrey H.) and Laura F. McKellar

1(Russell D.); his aunts, Mary Linda Thomas and Virginia F. 
2Matthews; his nephews, William T. Fleming, III, David W. 
3McKellar, and Lewis M. Fleming; his nieces Meghan R. McKellar 
4and Katherine G. McKellar; and his cousins and treasured 
5canines; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8Frederick Anton "Tony" Fleming, and extend our sincere 
9condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
10him; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Tony Fleming as an expression of our 
13deepest sympathy.
