|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of James I. McAndrews of Bull Valley, who |
| 4 | | passed away on March 15, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James McAndrews was born on September 6, 1919; his |
| 6 | | parents were Earl F. and Gladys (nee Kinney) McAndrews; he |
| 7 | | married Clara Trzebiatowski on May 7, 1949 at St. Adalbert |
| 8 | | Church in Rosholt, Wisconsin; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, James McAndrews graduated with the McHenry High |
| 10 | | School class of 1937; after graduation, he worked for a time at |
| 11 | | a gas company in Chicago before being drafted into the United |
| 12 | | States Army in October of 1941; during World War II, he served |
| 13 | | as a Ranger with the 738th Field Artillery Battalion of |
| 14 | | Patton's Third Army and was awarded a Bronze Star; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Following his military service, James McAndrews |
| 16 | | attended barber school in Chicago; he worked as a barber for 60 |
| 17 | | years from his barber shop on the west side of McHenry until |
| 18 | | his retirement at the age of 90; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, James McAndrews was instrumental in obtaining the |
| 20 | | charter to begin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4600 in McHenry, |
| 21 | | where he was a lifetime member; he was also a member of |
|

| 1 | | American Legion Post 491, Knights of Columbus Council 1288, and |
| 2 | | St. Patrick Catholic Church in McHenry, where he served as a |
| 3 | | lector, usher, and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine |
| 4 | | classes; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James McAndrews was preceded in death by his |
| 6 | | parents and his brother, Joseph (the late Joanne) McAndrews; |
| 7 | | and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, James McAndrews is survived by his wife of 64 |
| 9 | | years, Clara; his children, Patrick (Mary Lou) McAndrews, |
| 10 | | Thomas (Patti) McAndrews, John (Sherry) McAndrews, Anthony |
| 11 | | (Krystyna Adamczak) McAndrews, and Colleen (Jon) Wing; his |
| 12 | | grandchildren, Michael McAndrews, Patrick McAndrews, Justin |
| 13 | | (Hilary) McAndrews, John McAndrews, Ellen Wing, Erin Wing, |
| 14 | | Kelsa McAndrews, and Julia McAndrews; his sister, Kathryn (the |
| 15 | | late Wilbur) Pape; his many nieces and nephews; and his special |
| 16 | | caregiver, Lori; therefore, be it
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 19 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of James I. McAndrews; |
| 20 | | and be it further

| 21 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
