SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard S. "Dick" Schofield of Rockford,
4who passed away on March 26, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Schofield was born on May 22, 1922 in
6Freeport; his parents were Ralph and Ruth (nee Stewart)
7Schofield; he married Arlene P. Opel on August 6, 1943 in
8Neosho, Missouri; he and his wife recently celebrated their
970th anniversary; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Richard Schofield served his country as a member
11of the United States Army Signal Corps in the South Pacific
12theatre during World War II; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Richard Schofield was employed by Illinois Bell
14Telephone for 36 years until his retirement as a supervisor in
151982; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Richard Schofield was a member of Our Savior's
17Lutheran Church; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Richard Schofield is survived by his wife, Arlene;
19daughters, Ruth (Barry) Hough, Carol (Richard) Wray, and Mary
20(Jerry) Suhr; grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Karlen, Brian

1Hough, Eric (Melina) Hough, Kristin (Steve) Ramassini, Karin
2(Jim) Preusse, Jonathan (Christy) Wray, Matt (Holli) Suhr, and
3Julie Suhr; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
7family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard S. "Dick"
8Schofield; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Richard Schofield as an expression
11of our sympathy.
