SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph E. Burns, who passed away on April
423, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe Burns was born in Washington, D.C., where he
6developed his lifelong passion for horses, was a graduate of
7Georgetown University, and later founded Ameriforms
8Corporation; he later married and moved to Deerfield, where his
9daughter was born; he subsequently moved to Lake Forest 25
10years ago, where he married his loving wife, Gail, and lived
11happily ever after; and
 
12    WHEREAS, After retiring, Joe Burns volunteered for several
13years, taking food to the poor; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Joe Burns was preceded in death by his parents,
15John and Helen Burns, and 2 brothers, Francis and Jack Burns;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joe Burns is survived by his wife, Gail Smith
18Burns; a daughter, Toni Burns Colhoff; 4 grandchildren, Kristy
19Colhoff Schaut, Denny Colhoff, Julie Colhoff, and Jackie
20Colhoff; a great-granddaughter, Lylah Colhoff; a brother,
21Walter Burns; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
3family and friends, mourn the passing of Joseph E. Burns; and
4be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Joseph E. Burns as an expression of
7our sympathy.
