SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patricia Rose (nee Cleary) Carney of
4Joliet, who passed away on May 6, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patricia Carney was born in Peoria on June 18,
61926 to Harold and Cecilia Cleary; she attended the Academy of
7Our Lady High School and graduated from Bradley University in
81948, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority; she
9later pursued graduate studies in Social Work at Loyola
10University in Chicago; she married Lt. Col. John Francis, M.D.
11on December 22, 1951 at St. Mark's Church in Peoria; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Patricia Carney worked for the American Red Cross;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Patricia Carney was a member of St. Paul the
15Apostle Church and other charitable organizations; she enjoyed
16gazing out her window at the gentle sunsets, the frenetic play
17of squirrels and raccoons, and the vibrant flowers encircling
18the family home at her "heavenly hill"; she also enjoyed
19spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren
20participate in Irish dance, basketball, and tennis; she made
21multiple trims to Jamaica with her family, where a charitable
22dental clinic was established in her honor in 2005; and

1    WHEREAS, Patricia Carney was preceded in death by her
2husband, Dr. Carney; her mother, Cecilia Cleary (nee Render);
3and her father, Harold Cleary; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Patricia Carney is survived by her sister, Ava
5(late Robert) Ossenbeck; her sons, John Michael Carney, M.D.,
6Patrick (Deborah) Carney, M.D., Brian (Darena) Carney, Paul
7Carney, James (Susan) Carney, D.D.S., and the Honorable Thomas
8(Anne) Carney; and 12 grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Patricia Rose Carney, and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Patricia Carney as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
