SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Goldie Mae Hardy of Chicago, who passed
4away on August 28, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy was born in Arp, Texas on November
619, 1919 to Reverend Luke and Rosie (nee Davenport) Wade; she
7graduated from Arp High School and attended Wiley College in
8Marshall, Texas; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy relocated to California in the 1940s
10and worked as a professional model; she married Spencer
11Talafaro Hardy, III and they settled in Chicago in 1951; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy began working for the Chicago Board
13of Education as a teacher's assistant in the Head Start Child
14Development Program in October of 1968 and worked in the
15program for 36 years; she received numerous awards and
16certificates of accomplishments from the Board of Education and
17received a proclamation from the Board at the time of her
18retirement in 2004 for faithful service and dedication to the
19Chicago Public School System; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy was an excellent cook, an avid
21fisherman, a mean "bid whist" player, and she completely amazed

1everyone with her flexibility and grace on the dance floor well
2into her mid 80s; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy was preceded in death by her parents;
4her husband, Spencer T. Hardy III; and her siblings, Samuel
5"Billie" Wade, Luther Wade, Archie Wade, M C. "Tex" Wade, Hosie
6Wade, Louise (nee Wade) Wright, and June (nee Wade) Hendrix;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy is survived by her siblings, Lorraine
9(nee Wade) Ross, Doris (nee Wade) Major, Chester Wade (Margie),
10Wiliie George Wade, and Jane (nee Wade) Miller (CJ); her
11children, Spencer Talafaro Hardy IV, Judge La Quietta J.
12Hardy-Campbell (James), and Debra Barnard Koonce (Melvin);
13grandchildren Latonia Hardy, Ray Hardy, Dionne Morgan
14(Addison, III), Lori Hardy, and Chanel Barnard;
15great-grandchildren, Dominique, Jaquan, Charlisa, Addison J.,
16Martese, Jabarre, Zion, Chantrell, Reagan, and Sanerra;
17great-great-grandchildren. Brooklyn and Journee; and a host of
18nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, relatives, and friends;
19therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
22Goldie Mae Hardy, and extend our sincere condolences to her
23family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
