SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John David Dickshot of Las Vegas, Nevada,
4who passed away on June 13, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Dickshot was born on June 15, 1950 in
6Waukegan; his parents were Johnny Dickshot and Julie Kuzmickus;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Dickshot grew up on 8th Street in Waukegan
9and received his education in Gulfstream Park, Florida, as well
10as at many other "educational facilities" around the country;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Dickshot was well-regarded as the consummate
13host for gatherings of friends and family; he served on the
14board of the Pushbutton's Social Club and invented his own card
15game known lovingly as Oh Poop; he also enjoyed spending hours
16on Little Bay de Noc on Lake Michigan, where he would use the
17skills his father taught him to catch endless amounts of perch;
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Dickshot moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1990
20and continued to pursue his first love, sports management; in
212000, he was offered the job as head chef at Brando's

1Restaurant, where he met many of the great friends he had in
2Las Vegas; after retiring in 2013, he lived happily alone,
3decorating his yard and following sports and horse racing with
4enthusiasm; he was also well known as a "part-time plumber";
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, John Dickshot was preceded in death by his parents
7and his sisters, Kathleen Kamakaiwi and Cynthia Logue; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Dickshot is survived by his sisters, Mary
9Anne Kennedy and Judith Ducey; his daughter, Melissa A.
10Benavides, MD, and her two children, Enrique IV and Carolina;
11and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
14family and friends, mourn the passing of John David Dickshot;
15and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of John Dickshot as an expression of
18our sympathy.
