SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wilbur L. "Webb" Parlier of Arenzville,
4who passed away on May 26, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wilbur Parlier was born in Beardstown on March 19,
61938 to Thomas and Alberta (nee Niestradt) Parlier; he attended
7Arenzville High School and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran
8Church; he married Ruth Best on July 17, 1980; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Wilbur Parlier worked and managed the Illinois
10State Fair Western Horse Shows for 50 years, retiring in 2013;
11he conceived and put on 2 of the largest horse shows in the
12country - The Railsplitter Appaloosa Show and the International
13Show in Springfield; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Wilbur Parlier was a cowboy, in boots, hat, and
15spurs every day of his life; he competed in rodeos for 10
16years, riding bulls and broncos, and had a trick riding act; he
17was a nationally known horse trainer and show manager; his
18specialty was teaching kids to ride and show horses; he also
19competed himself, winning numerous Appaloosa Horse titles at
20world and national shows; his joy of teaching kids allowed him
21and his wife to have many "adopted" children; and

1    WHEREAS, Wilbur Parlier was preceded in death by his
2parents and by one brother, Melvin Parlier; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Wilbur Parlier is survived by his wife, Ruth; his
4son, David Parlier; and one sister, Marilyn Gliebe; therefore,
5be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Wilbur L. "Webb" Parlier, and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Wilbur Parlier as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
