SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carole A. Michels of rural Elburn, who
4passed away on August 16, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carole Michels was born on June 29, 1941 in
6Aurora; her parents were Roy and Gertrude (nee Kroeger) Brown;
7she married Jim Michels on December 1, 1962 at St. Therese
8Catholic Church in Aurora; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Carole Michels grew up in Aurora and attended Oak
10Park Elementary School and East Aurora Junior High School
11before graduating with the first graduating class of the "new"
12East Aurora High School in 1959; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Carole Michels
14began her career as a secretary with IBM in Aurora and
15developed the skills that served her well throughout her life;
16after marrying, she moved with her husband to Oklahoma City,
17where he was stationed as a commissioned officer with the
18United States Public Health Service; they were later
19transferred to Henryetta, Oklahoma before moving to New
20Brighton, Minnesota; after moving to Norman, Oklahoma in 1968,
21they returned "home" in 1969 to reside in Blackberry Township;
22in 1974, she resumed her secretarial skills as the secretary of

1the newly-formed consulting engineering firm Engineering
2Enterprises, Inc. in Elburn; she then became active in the
3Elburn Business Council and, in 1982, became a realtor with
4Leuer Realty, where she was a "top producer" for most of her
530-year career; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Carole Michels was an active member of St. Gall
7Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and
8in many other positions; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Carole Michels was a member and president of the
10Greater Aurora Association of Realtors and the Fox Valley Board
11of Realtors and held several leadership positions with both
12boards; she was a charter member of the Kane County Tourism
13Association and a member of the Kaneland Foundation and the
14Waubonsee Community College Foundation; she served as a
15precinct committee person for Blackberry Township for many
16years; she was one of the 7 founders of Kaneland Community Bank
17(now American Bank and Trust) in Elburn; she was also the
18Corporate Secretary Emeritus of Engineering Enterprises, Inc.
19in Sugar Grove; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Carole Michels enjoyed life, entertaining family
21and friends by cooking and baking, traveling with her family
22and friends, and vacationing at Powers Lake, Wisconsin; and

1    WHEREAS, Carole Michels was preceded in death by her
2parents; 2 grandsons, Geno and Ryan Migliorini; her
3mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marie and Ben Michels; her
4brothers-in-law, Bob, Art, and Bern Michels and Jim McCue, Sr.;
5and 5 nieces and nephews; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Carole Michels is survived by her husband, Jim; 2
7sons, Sean (Valerie) Michels and Todd (Jacqui) Michels; a
8daughter, Denise (Brian) Migliorini; 3 sisters, Jean (Don)
9White, Joan McCue, and Judy (Jim) Kreitz; 9 grandchildren,
10Abby, Nick, Maddy, and Sophie Michels, Greycn, Alexa, and
11Samantha Michels, and Gina and Nico Migliorini; 4
12sisters-in-law, Pat, Lil, and Lois Michels and Anna Marie
13Avram; her brother-in-law, Nello Avram; and 44 nieces and
14nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
17family and friends, mourn the passing of Carole A. Michels; and
18be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Carole Michels as an expression of
21our sympathy.
