SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mary Bridget Cadigan, who passed away on
4July 19, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Cadigan was raised on the South Side of
6Chicago; she graduated from Saint Margaret of Scotland Grammar
7School in 1945 and Longwood Academy in 1949; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In 1960, Mary Cadigan and her husband moved to
9Arlington Heights, where they raised their family and were
10active members of Saint James Parish for 49 years; they moved
11to the Resurrection Retirement Community in 2009; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mary Cadigan had a lifelong devotion to care of
13the homeless and worked for many years as a volunteer for
14homeless assistance groups, including Saint James Church, the
15People's Church in Uptown, Chicago, and the Hope Center in
16Palatine, where she was a member of the Board; she was a
17founding member of the Hope Center and was named Outstanding
18Community Member and Volunteer in 2006; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Cadigan was the wife of William J. Cadigan;
20the mother of Mary Clare (Patrick Lynch), Catharine M. (Mark
21Ostermann), Anne T. (Michael Gaziano), Sheila E., William J.

1(Beth Wood), and Eileen P. (Raphael Brasseur); the loving Nana
2of Michaela, Dante, and Liam Gaziano, Isla and Terra Brazier,
3Joey Lynch, Cecilia and Nadia Brasseur, and Billy Cadigan; the
4dear sister of Martin Connolly (Nancy), Rita (the late John)
5McNally, Kathleen (the late Donald) Lux, Michael (Nancy)
6Connolly, the late Eleanor (Michael) Brennan, and the late
7Betty (Robert) Wulf; the daughter of Bartley and Mary (nee
8Finnegan) Connolly; and the loving niece, cousin, and aunt of
9many; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Mary Bridget Cadigan;
13and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Mary Cadigan as an expression of our
16sympathy.
