2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Rudolph "Rudy" J. Papa, who passed away |
4 | | on August 28, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa was born on September 1, 1936 in |
6 | | Madison; his parents were John and Helen (nee Zarr) Papa; he |
7 | | married Jacqueline Kintzele on September 14, 1957; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa worked at the Bethalto School |
9 | | District for 33 years and it was important to him to be known |
10 | | as an educator; he loved each and every one of his students and |
11 | | could remember their names long after they left his classroom; |
12 | | and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa served the Village of Bethalto as a |
14 | | board member for 12 years; he was elected to the Madison County |
15 | | Board in 1982 and served until he retired from public office in |
16 | | 2001; he was elected by his fellow board members to serve as |
17 | | county board chairman in 1996; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa was a member of Our Lady Queen of |
19 | | Peace Catholic Church; he was a member of the Knights of |
20 | | Columbus, where he was a 3rd Degree Knight and had been a past |
21 | | Grand Knight; he was also a member of the Illinois Education |

1 | | Association and the National Education Association; and
|
2 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa served on the State of Illinois |
3 | | Community College Board; he was the curator of the Bethalto |
4 | | Museum; he served as Wood River Township Highway Commissioner |
5 | | and as a precinct committeeman; he also served as a baseball |
6 | | coach; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa enjoyed history, golf, playing his |
8 | | harmonica, his swimming pool, walking his dog, flowers, |
9 | | butterflies, all local sports, music, dancing, and spending |
10 | | time with his grandbabies and granddogs; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa was preceded in death by his parents |
12 | | and 5 brothers, Bob, George, Frank, Bill, and Joe; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Rudolph Papa is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; |
14 | | 5 daughters and their spouses, Diana Williams, Jill (Brad) |
15 | | Sauls, JoEllyn (Kent) Patterson, Beth Papa, and Mary (Oscar |
16 | | Nuncio) Papa; 7 grandchildren and their spouses, Ashley (Eric) |
17 | | Anderson, Paige Williams, Jim and Joe Sauls, Ben and Andrew |
18 | | Patterson, and Bailee Tanney; 2 brothers and their spouses, |
19 | | John (Louise) Papa and Larry (Sue) Papa; and many nieces and |
20 | | nephews; therefore, be it
