SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Raymond Hartstein of Skokie, who passed
4away on September 7, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Raymond Hartstein served for many years as
6Director of Personnel and Industrial Relations for Brunswick
7Corporation until his retirement; prior to his work at
8Brunswick, he worked with the American Embassy in Tel Aviv,
9Israel as a management advisor setting up training programs for
10Israeli industries; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Raymond Hartstein was the Founding Chairman of
12Oakton Community College, where he served as a dedicated board
13member for 35 years; the Skokie eastern campus was named the
14Ray Hartstein Campus in honor of his accomplishments; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Raymond Hartstein was a proud Rotarian and a
16former Skokie Rotary President; he served as President and
17Board member of Orchard Village; he was also a long-time board
18member of the Skokie United Way and a community leader in
19countless other community organizations; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Raymond Hartstein is survived by his loving wife
21of 51 years, Rhea; he was the devoted dad of Elliott Hartstein

5Stacey Hersh (Bryan), Kelly Miller (Matt), Adam Dewitt
6(Merritt), Joshua Lieberman (Andrea), Daniel Kaufman, Michael
7Kaufman, Kristin Harmic (Matthew), Steven Miner (Nikki),
8Rachel Forbes (Jon), Amy Guarino, and David Guarino (Natalia);
9and the adored great-grandpa of Matthew, Emma, Ryder, Casey,
10Presley, Leo, Zachary, Brandon, Gavin, Charlie, Lux, Maya,
11Chase, Abbey, Trevor, Lily, Leah, and Keaton; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
14family and friends, mourn the passing of Raymond Hartstein; and
15be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Raymond Hartstein as an expression
18of our sympathy.
