2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward R. Richards, Sr., who passed away
4on October 8, 2014; and
5    WHEREAS, Edward Richards, Sr. served his country as a
6member of the United States Army Air Forces during World War
7II; and
8    WHEREAS, Edward Richards, Sr. retired from Commonwealth
9Edison after 40 years of service; and
10    WHEREAS, Edward Richards, Sr. was a member of the Joliet
11Shrine Club, Medina Temple, Matteson Lodge #175 Ancient Free &
12Accepted Masons, the Valley of Chicago Ancient Accepted
13Scottish Rite, and the Buckhorn Elks Lodge in Mesa, Arizona;
15    WHEREAS, Edward Richards, Sr. enjoyed woodworking,
16golfing, and spending winters in Arizona with his wife; and
17    WHEREAS, Edward Richards, Sr. was preceded in death by his
18parents, Russell and Gertrude (nee Trent) Richards, and a
19grandson, Christopher Richards; and

1    WHEREAS, Edward Richards, Sr. is survived by his loving
2wife of 60 years, Harriet A. (nee Rasmussen) Richards; a son,
3Edward (Mary) Richards, Jr.; 2 daughters, Kay (James) Novak and
4Anne (Richard) Doss; 8 grandchildren, Lynnea (Jim) Derocher,
5Paul (Becky) Richards, Phillip (Jody) Richards, Ryan (Laura)
6Novak, Brett Novak, Mark (Austin) Novak, Samantha (Thomas)
7Milhoan, and Katie Krock; 13 great-grandchildren; a
8great-great-grandson; a sister-in-law, Janet (the late
9Raymond) Reardon; and a niece, Stacey Reardon; therefore, be it
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
12family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward R. Richards,
13Sr.; and be it further
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Edward Richards, Sr. as an
16expression of our sympathy.
