2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Helen Rose Lockard of Aurora, who passed |
4 | | away on October 3, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Helen Lockard was born in Aurora on December 9, |
6 | | 1938 to Carl and Gertrude (nee Walther) Stirn; she attended St. |
7 | | Paul Lutheran Grade School and graduated from East Aurora High |
8 | | School in 1956; she married Dale Kahle on November 28, 1959; |
9 | | and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Helen Lockard worked for the Northern Illinois Gas |
11 | | Company (now Nicor Gas Company) following her high school |
12 | | graduation; she was also the owner and operator of Carl Stirns |
13 | | Marine in Aurora - the family business started by her father in |
14 | | 1936; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Helen Lockard was a lifelong member of St. Paul |
16 | | Lutheran Church in Aurora; she never missed an opportunity to |
17 | | help those in need; she was an 8+ gallon blood donor and organ |
18 | | donor; and |
19 | | WHEREAS, After the passing of her first husband, Helen |
20 | | married Christopher "Chris" Lockard in 1972; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Helen Lockard was preceded in death by her |
2 | | parents; her first husband, Dale R. Kahle; her second husband, |
3 | | Christopher Lockard; her son, Kerry Kahle; and her brother, |
4 | | William Stirn; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Helen Lockard is survived by her 2 sons, Dale |
6 | | Kahle and Greg Kahle; 4 grandchildren, Grayson Kahle, Sydney |
7 | | Kahle, Ryan Kahle, and Dana Kahle; her sister, Carla (Thomas) |
8 | | Teter; cousins, Gert (Dick) Hills, Marge (Frank) Vermaat, |
9 | | Richard (Claudine) Stirn, and Kenneth Stirn; nephews, David |
10 | | (Heather) Teter, John (Heather) Teter, and Todd (Angela) Stirn; |
11 | | and extended family and lifelong friends; therefore, be it

12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
14 | | Helen Rose Lockard, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
16 | | further

17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
18 | | presented to the family of Helen Lockard as an expression of |
19 | | our deepest sympathy.
