AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 217




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 217 on page 9, by 
3replacing lines 1 through 20 with the following:

 
4    "Section 25. Advertisement and sales; misrepresentation. 
5No person or entity may advertise or otherwise offer conversion 
6therapy services in a manner that represents homosexuality as a 
7mental disease, disorder, or illness. A violation of this 
8Section constitutes an unlawful practice under the Consumer 
9Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.

 
10    Section 30. Discipline. Any sexual orientation change 
11efforts attempted on a person under the age of 18 by a mental 
12health provider shall be considered unprofessional conduct. 
13Mental health providers found to have engaged in a sexual 
14orientation change effort on a patient under the age of 18 may 
15be subject to discipline by the licensing entity or 
16disciplinary review board with competent jurisdiction.
