AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 6167

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 6167 as follows:
 
3on page 1, lines 4 and 5, by replacing "Section 5-8.5" with
4"Sections 4-8.5, 5-8.5, and 6-35.5"; and
 
5on page 1, immediately below line 5, by inserting the
6following:
 
7    "(10 ILCS 5/4-8.5 new)
8    Sec. 4-8.5. Deputy registrar eligibility;
9pre-registration. Unless otherwise provided by law, an
10individual that is 17 years old or older who is registered to
11vote in this State shall be eligible to serve as a deputy
12registrar. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the
13contrary, an individual who will be 18 years of age or older at
14the next general election may sign and circulate candidate
15petitions and may pre-register to vote, and shall be deemed

1competent to execute and attest to any voter registration
2forms, with the registration held in abeyance by the
3appropriate election authority until such time as that
4individual attains the required age to vote."; and
 
5on page 1, line 14, by replacing "register" with
6"pre-register"; and
 
7on page 1, immediately below line 18, by inserting the
8following:
 
9    "(10 ILCS 5/6-35.5 new)
10    Sec. 6-35.5. Deputy registrar eligibility;
11pre-registration. Unless otherwise provided by law, an
