HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate HH Conrady Jr. High School
4in North Palos School District 117 on being one of 2 Illinois
5schools recognized as National Title I Distinguished Schools;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, The National Title I Association was established
8to help improve and implement programs under Title I of the
9Elementary and Secondary Act (ESEA); it recognizes up to 2
10schools per state as National Title I Distinguished Schools;
11Title I is the largest federally funded pre-college education
12program, providing funding to school districts that serve
13students from low-income families; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The National Title I Association allows each state
15to select one qualifying school in each of the following 2
16categories: (1) High Performing - A school that has exceeded
17its Adequate Yearly Progress - or alternative accountability
18criteria for those states with ESEA Flexibility Requests
19approved by the United States Department of Education - for 2
20or more years; (2) Achievement Gap - A school that has
21significantly closed the achievement gap between subgroups of
22students; and

1    WHEREAS, More than 56% of students at HH Conrady Jr. High
2School are classified as low income; Illinois Standards
3Achievement Tests scores rose from 71.4% of students meeting or
4exceeding standards in 2011 to 74.9% in 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, HH Conrady Jr. High School will be honored for its
6academic gains at the upcoming National Title I Association's
7annual conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, and at the No Child
8Left Behind annual statewide conference in Chicago; therefore,
9be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12congratulate HH Conrady Jr. High School on being one of 2
13Illinois schools recognized as National Title I Distinguished
14Schools and wish them many more years of academic success; and
15be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to HH Conrady Jr. High School as an expression of our
18esteem and respect.
