| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to
congratulate John A. Ambrose, former | ||||||
| 4 | Chief Operating Officer of Rentech
Nitrogen GP, LLC and former | ||||||
| 5 | President of Rentech Nitrogen, LLC on the
occasion of his | ||||||
| 6 | retirement on January 9, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, John Ambrose served in those leadership positions | ||||||
| 8 | from 2007
until his retirement at Rentech Nitrogen's nitrogen | ||||||
| 9 | fertilizer facility near East
Dubuque; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The Rentech Nitrogen East Dubuque plant is the | ||||||
| 11 | only nitrogen
fertilizer manufacturing facility in Illinois | ||||||
| 12 | and supplies corn growers in the
northern half of the State; | ||||||
| 13 | and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, John Ambrose led the facility to expand production | ||||||
| 15 | of several
products including a $100,000,000 ammonia | ||||||
| 16 | expansion, that created
numerous construction jobs; and | ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, John Ambrose led the Rentech Nitrogen East Dubuque | ||||||
| 18 | facility to
spend between $5 to $10 million in maintenance | ||||||
| 19 | capital projects annually to
renew the 49-year-old facility to | ||||||
| 20 | assure jobs, local commerce, a tax base, and
a supply of | ||||||
| 21 | Illinois-made nitrogen fertilizer to agricultural dealers and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | coops; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, John Ambrose led the facility to install a unit to | ||||||
| 3 | produce and
supply DEF (Diesel Emission Fluid) for the control | ||||||
| 4 | of pollutants from mobile
diesel engines; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, John Ambrose led Rentech Nitrogen to install | ||||||
| 6 | numerous
environmental stewardship projects that eliminated | ||||||
| 7 | the use of an ozone
depleting refrigerant, improved the capture | ||||||
| 8 | of oil in waste water, reduced the
emission of a primary | ||||||
| 9 | pollutant, and on a voluntary basis reduced by over
90% the | ||||||
| 10 | emission of a greenhouse gas; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, John Ambrose participated in the Chemical | ||||||
| 12 | Industry Council of
Illinois and specifically as Chairman of | ||||||
| 13 | the executive Committee in 2014; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, John Ambrose led Rentech Nitrogen to support the | ||||||
| 15 | local
economic development effort (Tri-County Economic | ||||||
| 16 | Development Alliance-TCEDA)
and served on its Executive | ||||||
| 17 | committee and as Vice-Chairman; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, John Ambrose led Rentech Nitrogen to join and | ||||||
| 19 | participate in
other Northwest Illinois organizations and | ||||||
| 20 | re-focused donations to local
charities, local fire and police | ||||||
| 21 | organizations, and local agricultural
organizations; | ||||||

| 1 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 2 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 3 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 4 | thank former Rentech Nitrogen Chief Operating Officer John A.
| ||||||
| 5 | Ambrose for his years of service to the people of Illinois, to | ||||||
| 6 | Northwest
Illinois, and to Jo Daviess County, and we | ||||||
| 7 | congratulate him on his
retirement, and wish him all the best | ||||||
| 8 | in his future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to John Ambrose as an expression of our | ||||||
| 11 | congratulations and appreciation for a job
well done.
