2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dorothy | ||||||
4 | Mae Coulter of Morton, who passed away on March 15, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Coulter was born in Peoria on March 13, | ||||||
6 | 1922 to Royal J. and Nellie Minnie (nee Sank) Zerwekh; she | ||||||
7 | married C. Elmer Coulter in Peoria on October 8, 1944; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Coulter was an active member of Trinity | ||||||
9 | Lutheran Church and devoted her life to volunteerism; she | ||||||
10 | participated in the annual summer vacation Bible school events | ||||||
11 | and enjoyed assembling Braille reading books; she co-founded | ||||||
12 | the Educable Mentally Handicapped program at her church and was | ||||||
13 | involved with the program for over 40 years; in 2002, she | ||||||
14 | received the Follower of the Lamb award from Bethesda Lutheran | ||||||
15 | Homes & Services, Inc. in recognition of her service to persons | ||||||
16 | with developmental disabilities; she also was a regular | ||||||
17 | volunteer at the Bel-Wood Nursing Home and received its | ||||||
18 | Volunteer of the Year Award in 2002 in recognition for her 30 | ||||||
19 | years of weekly service; she served as a weekly volunteer at | ||||||
20 | Valeska Hinton primary school and was recognized for her | ||||||
21 | service in 1998 with the Quiet Hero Award from Peoria Public | ||||||
22 | Schools; and

1 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Coulter enjoyed card games and going out | ||||||
2 | to dinner and taking summer vacations with her family; she was | ||||||
3 | always pushing her children and grandchildren to acquire as | ||||||
4 | much education as they could; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Coulter was preceded in death by her | ||||||
6 | husband, C. Elmer, and her grandson, Jeremy R. Coulter; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Dorothy Coulter is survived by her 3 sons, Royal | ||||||
8 | J. (Kathy) Coulter, Gary D. (Dianne) Coulter, and Roger (Deb) | ||||||
9 | Coulter; her 10 grandchildren, Chris (Melanie), Jeff | ||||||
10 | (Allison), Matt (Kris), Tara (Ed), Melissa (Skyler), Meghan | ||||||
11 | (Matt), Jaimee (Jeff), Joy (Erik), Jessica (Todd), and Jonah; | ||||||
12 | her 18 great-grandchildren, Maria, Brian, Michael, Patrick, | ||||||
13 | Ella, Claire, Jack, Bryn, Luke, Sam, Luca, Miles, August, | ||||||
14 | Graham, Ivy, Gavin, Lila, and Sawyer; her sister, Mary Jane | ||||||
15 | Russell; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
17 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
18 | mourn the passing of Dorothy Mae Coulter, and extend our | ||||||
19 | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
20 | and loved her; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Dorothy Coulter as an expression of |
