2 | | WHEREAS, Gordon "Gordy" McCollum began his career in radio |
3 | | broadcasting in 1975 as a summer replacement at WQUA in Moline; |
4 | | he later became the traffic manager for KRVR in Davenport, Iowa |
5 | | in November of 1975; and

6 | | WHEREAS, In 1977, Gordy McCollum moved on to become the |
7 | | "Midnight Mole" at WEMO in East Moline, where he was the first |
8 | | to introduce album rock to the Quad City area and the first to |
9 | | play music by the band Styx; and

10 | | WHEREAS, In 1978, Gordy McCollum moved to the Kankakee |
11 | | area, where he worked for WKAN radio for 2 years until he was |
12 | | given the opportunity to become station manager for WXJY in |
13 | | Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, When Gordy McCollum recognized his love was with |
15 | | music and not management, he returned to WKAN in 1981, where he |
16 | | did the afternoon drive program and started his "Sixties at |
17 | | Six" program, which was hugely popular due to him bringing |
18 | | insight to a new generation of fans to the music; and

19 | | WHEREAS, In 2000, after 19 years at WKAN, Gordy McCollum |
20 | | left to go across town to work for WVLI in Bourbonnais, where |
21 | | he continues bringing his knowledge and history of music to the |
