HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Mollie Plummer-Whitman on
4the occasion of her 105th birthday; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mollie Plummer-Whitman was born in Slaughter,
6Louisana on July 17, 1910; she moved to Chicago in 1944; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Mollie Plummer-Whitman worked for a paper company
8for 18 years, for Oak Forest Hospital for 7 years, and at the
9Chicago hospital for 4 years; she worked at the voting polls
10from 1959 to 1995; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mollie Plummer-Whitman retired in 1962 to take
12care of her mother and sister; after her mother's passing in
131992, she began doing house cleaning until the age of 99; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mollie Plummer-Whitman credits her long life to
15God; she enjoys attending church and is the President of the
16Mothers Board, a Sunday school teacher, and works with the
17Deacon Board; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Mollie Plummer-Whitman makes sure she has some
19kind of vegetable everyday and is thankful to have lived to see
20the first African-American President of the United States;

1therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4congratulate Mollie Plummer-Whitman on her 105th birthday and
5wish her many more wonderful years; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to Mollie Plummer-Whitman as an expression of our
8esteem and respect.
