|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Jill Rodriguez on the |
4 | | occasion of her retirement as Director of the Bensenville |
5 | | Public Library; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Jill Rodriguez began working at the Bensenville |
7 | | Public Library in 1977 as a Public Services Librarian; she |
8 | | transitioned to the position of Assistant Director in 1980, |
9 | | Acting Director in 1981, and Director later in 1981; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Jill Rodriguez oversaw the Library's move to its |
11 | | current location in 1978; she also supervised the Library's |
12 | | early adoption of an electronic catalog, a community-wide |
13 | | internet initiative, and free technology training; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Jill Rodriguez mentored countless employees, many |
15 | | who have gone on to successful directorships at libraries all |
16 | | over the United States; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Jill Rodriguez forged unique and valuable |
18 | | partnerships throughout her community, including the 1999 |
19 | | Lifelong Learning Center addition, which was a partnership |
20 | | between the Library and Bensenville School District 2; and
|
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Jill Rodriguez has been an active participant in |
2 | | the Bensenville Rotary Club, the Bensenville Community |
3 | | Foundation, the Bensenville Youth Coalition, and the |
4 | | Bensenville Intergovernmental Group; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jill Rodriguez has always been environmentally |
6 | | conscious and a leader of promoting green energy, as evident by |
7 | | her fostering of the Library's Garden of Knowledge, which is |
8 | | beautifully stocked with plants native to Illinois; she was |
9 | | also instrumental in the Library's overhaul to all LED |
10 | | lighting, and most recently, the Library's installation of |
11 | | free-to-use electric vehicle charging stations; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Jill Rodriguez and her colleague, Bill Erbes, |
13 | | directed the Libraries Remember event, a yearly community-wide |
14 | | remembrance of the tragic events of September 11, 2001; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Jill Rodriguez worked tirelessly to find funding |
16 | | for the Library's new early childhood room addition in 2015, |
17 | | including the writing of a successfully funded $125,000 grant |
18 | | through the Illinois State Library; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Jill Rodriguez is a native of New Jersey; she made |
20 | | Bensenville a second home for herself and her 3 children, who |
21 | | are all proud Fenton High School graduates; she quickly became |
22 | | one of the community's most recognizable residents; and |

1 | | WHEREAS, Jill Rodriguez will be retiring from the |
2 | | Bensenville Public Library on October 1, 2015 after many years |
3 | | of service to not only the patrons of the library, but all the |
4 | | residents of the Village of Bensenville; therefore, be it
|
5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
6 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
7 | | congratulate Jill Rodriguez on the occasion of her retirement |
8 | | and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and |
9 | | be it further

10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
11 | | presented to Jill Rodriguez as a symbol of our esteem and |
12 | | respect.
