SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John P. Gardner, Sr. of East Peoria, who
4passed away on February 12, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was born on May 18, 1950 in
6Peoria; his parents were Charles and Erna (nee Moeller)
7Gardner; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was president of and a longtime
9electrician at Oberlander Electric Company, Inc. in East
10Peoria; he and his brothers managed the business for their
11father and helped it grow into what it is today; and
 
12    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. enjoyed working with
13motorcycles, R/C boats and airplanes, golfing, go-karts, and
14piloting airplanes; he enjoyed spending time with his family
15and friends in the Peoria area, at their winter home in Fort
16Myers, Florida, and on his annual golf trip to Myrtle Beach,
17South Carolina; he was also a die-hard Bradley Braves and
18Chicago Bears fan; and
 
19    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was an Illinois State flat track
20motorcycle champion; he served as a flag man at the Peoria
21Speedway; he was a member of the Pekin Country Club for over 20

1years and a member of the Club's board; he also served on the
2East Peoria Chamber of Commerce Board; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. was preceded in death by his
4parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Gardner, Sr. is survived by his fiancee,
6Josie Fincham; 2 sons, John (Crystal) Gardner, Jr. and Robert
7Gardner; 4 daughters, Mia Fincham, Sophia McCormack, Sheria
8(Brock) Quinlan, and Cia Fincham; 11 grandchildren; 2 brothers,
9James (Vicky) Gardner and Steve (Candy) Gardner; and a sister,
10Therese (John) Jones; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of John P. Gardner, Sr.;
14and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of John Gardner, Sr. as an expression
17of our sympathy.
