SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, NBA player Shaun Livingston of the Golden State
3Warriors was born on September 11, 1985 in the Illinois City of
4Peoria; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Shaun Livingston led the Peoria Central High
6School Lions to 2 consecutive State titles at the Illinois High
7School Association Class AA State Tournament in the 2003 and
82004 seasons; he was named to the 2004 McDonald's All-America
9Team and the Parade Magazine All-America First Team; he was
10named co-MVP of the EA Sports Roundball Classic and was the
112003-04 Illinois Mr. Basketball winner; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Shaun Livingston was drafted fourth overall by the
13Los Angeles Clippers in 2004; he played there until the summer
14of 2008 when he signed with the Miami Heat as a free agent;
15after his time with the Heat, he played for several other NBA
16teams; and
 
17    WHEREAS, In 2014, Shaun Livingston's skills were acquired
18by the Golden State Warriors, where he plays as a shooting
19guard; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Shaun Livingston reached the pinnacle of his
21career in the 2014-2015 NBA season by helping his team achieve

1victory in the NBA Finals; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Shaun Livingston's proud connection to Peoria and
3Illinois continues; the Illinois High School Sports
4Association named him one of "100 Legends of the IHSA Boys'
5Basketball Tournament"; he established the Shaun Livingston
6Foundation which raised money for tornado victims in the wake
7of the 2013 Washington and Central Illinois tornadoes;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare July 28,
112015 as "Shaun Livingston Day" in the State of Illinois; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Shaun Livingston or a member of his immediate
15family as a symbol of our admiration and respect.
