2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Richard J. Georgantas, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | August 20, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas was a proud graduate of Joliet | ||||||
6 | Catholic High School's Class of 1954; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas served his country as a member | ||||||
8 | of the United States Army in the late 1950s, having been | ||||||
9 | stationed in Frankfurt, Germany; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas retired from the Argonne | ||||||
11 | National Laboratory in Lemont after over 28 years of service; | ||||||
12 | he worked for Reynolds Aluminum for 12 1/2 years, bartended at | ||||||
13 | The Keg for 9 years, worked for Cornerstone Services for 5 | ||||||
14 | years, served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Medical | ||||||
15 | Center, and worked at the Joliet Park District, where he drove | ||||||
16 | the Zamboni; he was also a long-time usher for the 4 PM Mass at | ||||||
17 | St. Mary Nativity and served as a co-chair of Jubilation in | ||||||
18 | 1985; and | ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas enjoyed working on crossword | ||||||
20 | puzzles, golfing, and playing Scrabble, dominoes, and canasta | ||||||
21 | with his family and friends; he also enjoyed taking vacations |

1 | to Siesta Key with his daughter and her family and some very | ||||||
2 | close friends and taking casino road trips with his gambling | ||||||
3 | buddy, Dee; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas was preceded in death by his | ||||||
5 | parents, Margaret (Palmer) and Anthony Georgantas; 4 brothers, | ||||||
6 | Robert (Gloria), George (Georgetta), Clarence "Teak" | ||||||
7 | (Theresa), and Donald; a sister, Betty Bick; a brother-in-law, | ||||||
8 | Richard Boban; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, George | ||||||
9 | and Olga Boban; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Richard Georgantas is survived by his wife of 53 | ||||||
11 | years, Judy (nee Boban); a daughter, Sue (Jim) Gulas; 2 | ||||||
12 | grandchildren, Jenny and Nick Gulas; 2 sisters, Lorraine (Dave, | ||||||
13 | deceased) A'Hearn and Connie A'Hearn; a brother-in-law, George | ||||||
14 | F. (Carol) Boban; his favorite card playing sister-in-law, | ||||||
15 | Christine Boban; his many nieces and nephews; and a few choice | ||||||
16 | "outsiders"; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
19 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Richard J. Georgantas; | ||||||
20 | and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Richard Georgantas as an expression |
