2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of B. Douglas Kettering of Rushville, who |
4 | | passed away on August 27, 2015; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Douglas Kettering was born in Schuyler County on |
6 | | July 1, 1932 to J. Boyd and M. Frances (nee Armstrong) |
7 | | Kettering; he graduated from Rushville High School and served |
8 | | in the United States Navy from
1951 to 1955 on the carriers USS |
9 | | Midway and USS Wasp; he married Madelyn Rose "Lynn" Schneider |
10 | | on
October 16, 1954 in the Bronx, New York; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Douglas Kettering worked at the U.S. Navy Yard in |
12 | | Portsmouth, Virginia
from 1955 to 1956; he then returned to his |
13 | | family farm, where he would farm for 47 years, retiring in |
14 | | 2003; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Douglas Kettering was a
lifetime member of the |
16 | | First United Methodist Church in Rushville, a member of the |
17 | | Rushville Flying Club for over
40 years, a member of the |
18 | | Rushville Lions Club, and a past member of the Rushville Rotary |
19 | | Club; he served one term as
the Bainbridge Township Supervisor, |
20 | | as Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Orr Research Farm in Perry, as |
21 | | President of the
Schuyler County Pork Producers, and as |
22 | | Chairman of the Schuyler County Soil and Water District during |

1 | | the building of
the Schuy-Rush Lake and Water Shed; he was also |
2 | | the Chairman of the Board of the Deb & Di's Coffee Club and
|
3 | | Reporter of the Hardee's Coffee Club; he was named the 2015 |
4 | | Corn Fest Farmer of the Year; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Douglas Kettering was preceded in death by his |
6 | | parents, and his son-in-law, Vince Heinz; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Douglas Kettering is survived by his wife, |
8 | | Madelyn; his 3 children, Pamela Diane
Tavernier and husband, |
9 | | John, Kerry Kevin Kettering and wife, Joyce, and Lisa Dawn |
10 | | Parks and husband, Frank; his 6 grandchildren, Brittany |
11 | | Heinz-Amborn and husband, Tyler, Jonathon Douglas Reynolds, |
12 | | Sierra Jockisch,
Kristy Jo LeBegue, Johanna Bigley and husband, |
13 | | Steve, and Brandon LeBegue; his great-grandchildren; his one

14 | | brother, Sidney Kettering and wife, Susie; his 2 sisters, Peggy |
15 | | Meyer and husband, Wilbur, and
Connie Markley and husband, |
16 | | Robert; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
|
17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL |
18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
19 | | B. Douglas Kettering, and extend our sincere condolences to his |
20 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
21 | | further
