2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Charles Pressman of Lake Forest, |
4 | | previously of Highland Park and Wilmette, who passed away on |
5 | | October 2, 2015; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Charles Pressman was born in New York City and |
7 | | raised in Poughkeepsie, New York; he was President of his high |
8 | | school class and attended private college on the East Coast for |
9 | | 2 years before enlisting in the military to decipher enemy |
10 | | codes during World War II; he attended the University of |
11 | | Chicago on the GI Bill, earning a bachelor's degree in |
12 | | philosophy; he graduated from the University of Chicago Law |
13 | | School in 1951; and

14 | | WHEREAS, Charles Pressman co-founded Pressman & Hartunian, |
15 | | a Chicago law firm that specialized in consumer fraud, |
16 | | employment discrimination, and civil rights violation cases; |
17 | | during the 1950s and 60s, he was Director of the Chicago |
18 | | chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union; in 1982, he left |
19 | | his law firm, but continued to work on cases privately; and

20 | | WHEREAS, Charles Pressman is survived by his wife, Joan; |
21 | | his son, Michael; his daughter, Sarah Lovinger; his stepson, |
22 | | Steve Weinger; his 2 stepdaughters, Lauren Weinger and Nancy |
