SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Thomas Joseph Barschak of O'Fallon, who passed away on January 15, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Barschak was born on January 30, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri; his parents were Thomas Emil and Marie C. (nee Polk) Barschak; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Barschak proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Barschak was a purchaser at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Barschak was a member of Masonic East Lodge 504; the Scottish Rite Bodies, where he was a past Sovereign Prince, a past member of the board of directors, MSA, and 33rd Degree; the Ainad Shrine Temple, where he was a past member of the executive committee and past Potentate; the Demolay Legion of Honor, Egyptian Preceptory; the Royal Order of Jesters Court 86; a member of the Belleville, Silver Lake, Collinsville, and Tri-City Shrine Clubs; and a past member of the Edwardsville Planning Commission; he also served at Anderson Hospital in Maryville as a trustee, assistant treasurer, and member of the executive committee, building committee, and special insurance committee; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Barschak was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Barschak is survived by his daughter, Bunny (Mark) VonBokel; his son, Dale (Kris) Barschak; his grandchildren, Logan VonBokel, Bret Barschak, and Laine Barschak; and his close friend, Shirley Walters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Thomas Joseph Barschak; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Thomas Barschak as an expression of our sympathy.
