2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Ferdinand "Ferd" H. Raffel, Jr. of |
4 | | Woodstock, who passed away on October 19, 2016; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Ferdinand Raffel, Jr. was born on January 1, 1932 |
6 | | in Woodstock; his parents were Ferdinand and Martha Raffel; he |
7 | | married Carol Stecker on December 13, 1953 at the First United |
8 | | Methodist Church in Woodstock; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Ferdinand Raffel, Jr. served in the United States |
10 | | Navy during the Korean Conflict; he was a member of the |
11 | | Woodstock Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5040 and served for |
12 | | several years as a member of the Honor Guard; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Ferdinand Raffel, Jr. was an active member of |
14 | | Grace Lutheran Church in Woodstock and enjoyed ushering for |
15 | | many worship services; he was an avid woodworker, making |
16 | | special projects for his grandchildren and teaching them the |
17 | | woodworking skills to create their own masterpieces; he also |
18 | | enjoyed spending time with his loving family; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Ferdinand Raffel, Jr. was preceded in death by his |
20 | | parents; his sister, Lucy Poelling; his brother, Richard |
21 | | Raffel; and his brothers-in-law, Ralph Lang and Bill Stecker; |
