Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Cook County Forest Preserve Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Adds a provision precluding any person who is convicted of any felony relating to or arising out of or in connection with his or her service as an employee from receiving benefits under the Article. Effective immediately.

Deletes reference to:
40 ILCS 5/10-106.5
Adds reference to:
40 ILCS 5/3-110from Ch. 108 1/2, par. 3-110

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Downstate Police Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that creditable service includes up to 24 months (rather than all periods of) service in the military, naval, or air forces of the United States entered upon before beginning service as an active police officer of a municipality, if the officer applies to the fund in writing and pays into the fund (i) employee contributions, (ii) an amount determined by the Board to be equal to the municipality's normal cost of the benefit, and (iii) interest, compounded annually, on those amounts from the date of membership to the date of payment. Provides that these changes apply only to participating employees while in service on or after July 23, 2010. Effective immediately.
