Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Teacher Certification Article of the School Code. Notwithstanding any other requirements to the contrary, provides that if a standard teaching certificate has been maintained as valid and active for the 5 years of the certificate's validity and the certificate holder has earned 120 continuing professional development units before July 1, 2002, the certificate shall be renewed as valid and active regardless of the fact that the holder has not completed any other additional credits. Effective immediately.
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Provides that the certificate shall be renewed if the certificate holder has completed his or her certificate renewal plan before July 1, 2002 (instead of requiring the certificate holder to have earned 120 continuing professional development units before July 1, 2002).
