Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the School Code. Provides that a speech and language pathologist who possesses a certificate under Article 21 of the School Code shall neither be required to have an employment or contractual relationship directly with the school district he or she serves nor be prohibited from serving in a school setting while employed by a person or entity other than a school district if the speech and language pathologist neither performs nor offers to perform any functions in the school setting that impart information in a classroom or classroom-like setting involving one or more students. Effective immediately.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
105 ILCS 5/21-25.5 new
Adds reference to:
105 ILCS 5/14-6.04 new

Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the School Code. After reasonable efforts have been made to employ a speech-language pathologist, allows a school district or cooperative to contract for speech language pathology services with a speech-language pathologist or an entity that employs speech-language pathologists. Effective immediately.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the contents of the bill as engrossed with the following changes. Changes the definition of "speech-language pathologist". Allows the school district or cooperative to contract for speech language pathology services while making reasonable efforts to employ a speech-language pathologist or after unsuccessful reasonable efforts have been made. Effective immediately.
