Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Election Code. Requires an election authority to designate at least one early voting permanent polling place. Specifies that an election authority's primary office is a permanent early voting polling place unless the authority designates another. Requires that an early voting permanent polling place be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the final Saturday and Sunday of the early voting period.
Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Election Code. Requires that a permanent early voting polling place remain open at least 8 hours on weekdays and holidays, at least 6 hours each weekend other than the final weekend of early voting, and at least 14 hours on the final weekend of early voting (now, between specified opening and closing times on weekdays, weekends, and holidays, and, only in certain larger jurisdictions, at least 14 hours on the final weekend). In a jurisdiction that does not operate a permanent early voting polling place, requires that the election authority offer early voting at its office during regular office hours and, before a general primary or general election, at least 4 additional early voting hours on the final weekend of early voting. Effective immediately.
