Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall develop a training and education program on public playground safety issues. Provides that the program may be presented annually and may be available through the Department's website. Provides that the Department shall adopt rules, based on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's standards, to develop standards for public playground equipment by June 30, 2011. Makes other changes.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall develop a technical assistance program on public playground issues in the play areas of parks, schools, and recreational developments. Provides that the program may be presented annually and may be available through the Department's website. Provides that the Department shall develop technical assistance materials by June 30, 2011. Provides that nothing in the provision concerning technical assistance on playgrounds shall be construed as imposing any mandate concerning equipment in restaurants or dwellings. Makes other changes.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Deletes everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Department of Public Health Powers and Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department of Public Health shall provide technical assistance materials based on guidelines or standards such as the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's guidelines, the U.S. Access Board final guidelines, or the standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials by June 30, 2011. Provides that the materials may be available on the Department's website. Provides that nothing in the provision concerning technical assistance on playgrounds shall be construed as imposing any mandate concerning equipment in restaurants or dwellings.
