Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person commits aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, other drug or drugs, or intoxicating compound or compounds, or any combination thereof, if the person drives a motor vehicle in violation of driving under the influence of alcohol, other drug or drugs, or intoxicating compound or compounds, or any combination thereof, and, in committing the violation, the person is involved in a motor vehicle accident that results in property damage of more than $5,000, if the violation was the proximate cause of the damage. Provides that the provision does not apply to any damage caused to another motor vehicle.
House Floor Amendment No. 1 Increases the property damage amount to more than $50,000 (rather than more than $5,000) for a person to commit aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, other drug or drugs, or intoxicating compound or compounds, or any combination thereof.
