Synopsis As Introduced Amends the General Assembly Compensation Act. Provides that any member of the General Assembly who is appointed to the House of Representatives or Senate after May 31 of an even-numbered year may not receive additional salary for service as a chairman or minority spokesman. Effective immediately.
Senate Floor Amendment No. 1 Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Reinserts the provisions of the introduced bill with changes. Provides that any member of the General Assembly who is appointed to the House of Representatives or Senate after May 31 of an even-numbered year may not receive additional salary for service as a chairperson or minority spokesperson (currently, chairman or minority spokesman), and specifies that the additional salary may not be received for the remainder of the General Assembly in which the member is appointed. Makes conforming changes concerning references to chairman and spokesman. Effective immediately.
