Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Humane Care for Animals Act. Increases criminal penalties for certain activities related to the use of animals, except dogs, for sport fighting. Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Increases criminal penalties for certain activities related to dog fighting. Effective immediately.
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Further amends the Humane Care for Animals Act and the Criminal Code of 1961. Inserts a scienter requirement into the portions of those Acts that prohibit any person from attending or otherwise patronizing any show, exhibition, program, or other activity featuring or otherwise involving certain types of animal fighting.
