Synopsis As Introduced
Creates the Energy Act of 2009. Contains only a short title provision.

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that any electric utility providing rate relief pursuant to specified provisions shall not deem any residential or non-residential customer to be ineligible to receive that relief solely based upon that customer's purchase of electricity from a supplier other than that electric utility at the time the rate relief is to be credited to that customer. Effective immediately.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Public Utilities Act. Provides that on and after the effective date of the amendatory Act, any electric utility providing rate relief pursuant to specified provisions shall not deem any residential or non-residential customer to be ineligible to receive that relief solely based upon that customer's purchase of electricity from a supplier other than that electric utility at the time the rate relief is to be credited to that customer. Provides that nothing in specified provisions shall entitle customers of an electric utility that had been previously deemed ineligible prior to the effective date of the amendatory Act to become eligible for rate relief credits. Effective immediately.
