Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Requires insurers to cover surveillance tests for ovarian cancer for female insureds who are at risk for ovarian cancer. Provides a definition for "at risk for ovarian cancer" and "surveillance tests for ovarian cancer". Effective January 1, 2006.
Senate Floor Amendment No. 2 Requires surveillance tests (rather than routine surveillance tests) for ovarian cancer for female insureds who are at risk for ovarian cancer. Changes the definition of "at risk for ovarian cancer" to include having a family history with one or more first-degree (rather than first or second-degree) relatives with ovarian cancer. Changes the definition of "surveillance tests for ovarian cancer" to delete screenings using other proven ovarian screening tests currently being evaluated by the federal Food and Drug Administration or by the National Cancer Institute.
