Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Fire Investigation Act. Provides that moneys in the Fire Prevention Fund shall be fully appropriated annually for exclusive and restricted use (rather than subject to appropriation). Provides that any portion of the Fire Prevention Fund remaining unexpended at the end of the fiscal year, except as otherwise provided, shall remain in the Fire Prevention Fund for exclusive and restricted uses (rather than paid into the General Revenue Fund in the State Treasury). Provides that any portion of the Fire Prevention Fund remaining unexpended at the end of the fiscal year 2004 that is not needed for the maintenance and expenses of the Office of the State Fire Marshal or the maintenance and expenses of the Illinois Fire Service Institute shall be allocated first to debt service on the Illinois Fire Service Institute and Illinois Fire Service Institute debt to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, and then to enhance the Office of the State Fire Marshal Training Reimbursement Fund for the fiscal year 2004.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Fire Investigation Act. Provides that any portion of the Fire Prevention Fund remaining unexpended at the end of the fiscal year that is not needed for the maintenance and expenses of the Office of the State Fire Marshal or the maintenance and expenses of the Illinois Fire Service Institute shall remain in the Fire Prevention Fund for specified uses (rather than be paid into the General Revenue Fund).
