Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Freedom of Information Act. Provides that it is the policy of the State for each public body to take every reasonable step to ensure that adequate precautions are taken to prevent the disclosure of personal information unless disclosure is required or authorized by law. Effective immediately.

New Act

Deletes everything. Creates the Social Security Number Protection Task Force Act and establishes the Social Security Number Protection Task Force to examine the procedures used by the State to protect an individual against the unauthorized disclosure of his or her social security number when the State requires the individual to provide his or her social security number to an officer or agency of the State. Requires a report by the first day of the 2004 fall veto session. Effective immediately.
