Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a combination of 3 commercial vehicles is allowed on the highways of this State if the overall length of the combination of vehicles does not exceed 65 feet and other specified conditions are met.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Provides that a combination of vehicles not exceeding 65 feet in length is also allowed if the towing vehicle is a properly registered vehicle capable of towing another vehicle using a goose-neck hitch ball.

House Floor Amendment No. 2
Provides that the combination of vehicles must be operated by a person holding a commercial driver's license (CDL). Provides that a combination of 3 vehicles is allowed access to any State designated highway if the length of neither towed vehicle exceeds 28.5 feet and the overall wheel base of the combination of vehicles does not exceed 62 feet. Provides that a combination of 3 vehicles is allowed access from any State designated highway onto any county, township, or municipal highway under specified conditions.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 1
Provides that the provisions of the bill apply only when the combination of vehicles is en route to a location where new or used trailers are sold by an Illinois or out-of-state licensed new or used trailer dealer.
