Synopsis As Introduced Amends the State Employees Group Insurance Act of 1971, the Counties Code, the Illinois Municipal Code, the School Code, the Illinois Insurance Code, the Health Maintenance Organization Act, and the Voluntary Health Services Plans Act to require coverage for non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis to prevent HIV infection within 72 hours after exposure from sexual intercourse, sexual assault, injection drug use, or accidents. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement by the State.
House Committee Amendment No. 1 Provides that coverage is for all covered persons, including, but not limited to, pregnant women, women of childbearing potential, and children. Includes coverage for HIV exposure after rape or blood transfusions.
