Synopsis As Introduced
Directs the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to create an incentive-based smoking cessation program for Medicaid recipients, to be in operation by January 1, 2008, and provides that the Department may enter into an agreement with a third party to create or run the program.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the heading. Urges the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services, in consultation with the Illinois Department of Public Health, to prepare and submit a comprehensive report to the Senate and the Governor, by January 1, 2008, on the results and effectiveness of the State's Smoking Cessation Initiative, together with recommendations that will increase participation, improve public health outcomes, and evaluate the merits of creating an incentive program for Medicaid recipients.
