Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Exempts a petitioner who is protected by an order of protection issued under the Domestic Violence: Order of Protection Article of the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 or under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of 1986 from the waiting period for purchase of a firearm.

House Floor Amendment No. 1
Provides that the exemption from the waiting period to acquire a firearm applies only to a person protected by a plenary or interim order of protection and not any order of protection.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Deletes reference to:
720 ILCS 5/24-3from Ch. 38, par. 24-3
Adds reference to:
720 ILCS 5/9-3.3from Ch. 38, par. 9-3.3

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Allows a drug-induced homicide prosecution when a person violates the law of another jurisdiction, which if the violation had been committed in this State could be charged under Section 401 of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act or Section 55 of the Methamphetamine Control and Community Protection Act, by unlawfully delivering a controlled substance to another, and any person's death is caused in this State by the injection, inhalation, absorption, or ingestion of any amount of that controlled substance.
