Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Youth and Young Adult Employment Act of 1986. Relocates the Community Youth Employment Program to the Illinois Youth and Young Adult Employment Act of 1986. Provides that the Department of Natural Resources instead of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity shall administer the competitive grant program to provide up to 5,000 youths with stipends or wages, or both, and supervision for a 52-week year round work program. Repeals the Community Youth Employment Act. Effective immediately.

Senate Floor Amendment No. 2
Provides that the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (instead of the Department of Natural Resources) shall administer a competitive grant program for community youths.

Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Community Youth Employment Act. Provides that the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity shall administer a competitive grant program that will provide 5,000 youths with stipends or wages, or both, and supervision for up to a 52-week, year-round work program (instead of a 10-week summer work period). Makes other changes.
