Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Downstate Teacher Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Allows a designated domestic partner to qualify as a surviving spouse for purposes of survivor and death benefits.

Adds reference to:
40 ILCS 5/17-121.1 new

Further amends the Illinois Pension Code to add the same language concerning domestic partner eligibility to the Chicago Teacher Article.

 The fiscal impact of HB 1331, as amended by HA #1, cannot be determined as the number of teachers who will designate a domestic partner is unknown, however the costs are expected to be relatively minor.
