| House Bill 1416 amends the Illinois Municipal Code and the Fire Protection District Act by providing for the creation of a department Foreign Fire Insurance Board in fire protection districts and in municipalities of less than 250,000 inhabitants. The creation of such a board would not be dependent upon action by municipality or district's corporate authorities. These boards would then distribute foreign fire insurance tax revenue as appropriated for the maintenance, use and benefit of the fire department. Certain units of local governments are authorized to collect taxes on foreign fire insurance premiums (those premiums issued by insurance companies not domiciled within Illinois), with such receipts to be used for the fire departments. |
