Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Chicago Firefighter Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that if a fireman whose application for either duty disability benefits or occupational disease disability benefits has been denied brings an action for administrative review challenging the denial of those benefits and prevails in that action, the prevailing fireman shall be entitled to recover from the Fund court costs and litigation expenses as part of the costs of the action. Effective immediately.

 Pension Note (Pension Laws Commission)
 The fiscal impact of HB 492 cannot be determined, as the number of firefighters who would recover court costs and litigation expenses is unknown. According to the Fund, HB 492 is not expected to significantly increase the annual cost of the fund.
