AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1920 

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1920 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 
52-3.206 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/2-3.206 new)
7    Sec. 2-3.206. American Sign Language implementation. No 
8later than July 1, 2026, the State Board of Education shall 
9encourage districts to collect teaching resources to support 
10American Sign Language programs. The teaching resources may 
11include, but need not be limited to: 
12        (1) the importance and benefits of American Sign 
13    Language instruction for early ages and the prevalence of 
14    American Sign Language in the United States;
15        (2) information on ways to implement American Sign 
16    Language instruction into kindergarten through grade 8

1    curriculum; and
2        (3) information on how to properly administer American 
3    Sign Language instruction for students in kindergarten 
4    through grade 8.".
